Beauty Booty: Editors’ Review Roundup

This week, our editorial team tried Ojon Full Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Spray, Laura Geller I-Care Waterproof Eyeliner in Ocean, Creative Nail Design’s Vanilla Collection of holiday hand lotions, DuWop Twilight Venom, and Calgon Relaxing Bath Salts and Luminous Bath Pearls.

Editor Amy Copperman reached for the Ojon right away. “I didn’t wash my hair, so I’ll try the dry shampoo,” she said. “I think this is good for people with bangs because bangs can get really greasy.”

The Full Detox spray is different from other dry shampoos in that it doesn’t need to be brushed or combed out. “It’s also super-fine and doesn’t leave any residue, which is nice,” said writer Allison Ford. “I’m kind of addicted to the tingly feel,” said editor-in-chief Rebecca Brown. It smells like peppermint gum, but not as obnoxious.” Other staff members thought the scent was a little more woodsy or spicy.

“I love this because it’s a twist-up,” said Allison. “You don’t have to sharpen it. It’s a really creamy pencil, and the numb at the end is to smudge it.” Editorial assistant Katie Koschalk agreed. “It’s so smooth, and it glides really easily,” she said. “I love the teal color,” said Amy. “I’m into this.”

Besides being a great (and surprisingly wearable) liner, part of the proceeds from the sale of the I-Care liner are donated to Cancer and Careers.

This set of three vanilla-scented lotions—Vanilla Suede, Vanilla Velvet, and Vanilla Cashmere—got mixed reviews. “The Vanilla Cashmere smells like cake batter,” said Amy. “The Vanilla Velvet is spicier, like Red Hots.” Everyone preferred the Vanilla Cashmere to the other two offerings, which were nice, but not as nice as the creamy and delicious cake batter scent. “They all kind of tropical,” said writer Renae Hurlbutt. “Like piña coladas.” Allison said, “My hands feel really soft, and not greasy at all.”

This is the Twilight version of DuWop’s popular tingly lip treatment, with a soft pink shimmer stain. “It’s so glittery and shiny!” said editorial assistant Devon Porrino. “I like to have the sensation that I’m wearing something and it’s actually working,” said Amy. “But I do sort of feel like I have Icy Hot on my lips.”

Our team definitely preferred the scent of the Bath Pearls to the scent of the Bath Salts. “The English Garden fragrance kind of reminds me of fabric softener,” said Rebecca. “It’s a little Bounce-y.” Editor’s note: some of us had bathed in the products, some were trying them for the first time. “I prefer the idea of soaking in pearls, rather than in salts,” said Amy. “The pearls leave a really nice sheen on my skin.”

We were all fascinated by the shimmering, sparkling water with the Bath Pearls in it. “It’s like taking a bath in pixie dust,” said Devon. Amy said, “It looks like Tinkerbell took a bath in there!”
