Often times we get tired of our old Dial pump dispenser or our Jean Naté body splash (do they even sell that stuff anymore?) and we need to brighten our bathrooms, kitchen sinks and bodies with a new, refreshing scent. Here are several that I’ve found over the years that I still continue to put in the rotation. If you’re looking to freshen up your wash basin or your body spray, give these a sniff:
Williams-Sonoma Winter Forest Soap & Lotion
This is the most wonderful hand soap and lotion set to have in your guest bath for the up-coming holiday season (not that I even want to think about that right now). I actually keep a variety of soaps in my guest bath for people to choose from, so these two are in there all year round. They have a fresh, woodsy scent to them and I notice how the lotion disappears rather quickly and I’m not the one using it! Really great for Thanksgiving and Christmas time, and even better for a holiday or hostess gift.
Banana Republic Alabaster
I have this in both the Eau de Toilette and the Body Spray form. I think Body Sprays are awesome because:
1: They’re so much cheaper
2: You get so much more
3: you can use as much as you want without feeling guilty
4: It’s generally a lighter scent so it’s not as over-powering
You can usually buy the body spray at a Banana Republic outlet for a great price and they usually have awesome deals on the small travel sizes of the eau de toilette in the regular store. The fragrance is “a delicate blend of wild musk and natural florals.” I also like the Rosewood, which smells like “an exotic, lingering, light blend.”
Chanel Allure
This has been my regular perfume for years. Every time I wear it, guys say I smell great and ask what it is. This is the fragrance’s description: “Allure Perfume by Chanel, Created by the design house of Chanel in 1996, is classified as a refreshing, oriental, floral fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of soft sweet spices, orange flowers, as well as fruity notes of fresh citrus, melons, peaches, and plums.” Funny thing, before needing more, I bought a bottle off of eBay for around $20 and the following weekend found almost a full bottle in a garage sale for a buck! You will likely pay around $44, though, online, for the smaller bottle—try using http://www.thefind.com for your best deal.
Coconut Lime Verbena Soap
This is from Bath & Body Works and it is one of my all-time favorite soaps. They use the same scent in a body spray, as well as shower gels, lotions, etc., which are all really refreshing. I like the foaming soap, myself, though they also have it in “moisturizing” and “deep cleansing.” And right now the hand soaps, which you can mix and match with their other great scents, are five for $15 or seven for $20—a great deal to stock up and have a different fresh-smelling scent at each sink in the house!
Ocean Potion Ever Glow
I love this stuff. It doesn’t smell as great as it used to, it used to have an orange scent but is now more of a banana. As you can see, it comes in a huge bottle, 20.5 oz. for $5.99. It really does give your skin a healthy glow and does not look orange or fake like other tanning lotions. It is also very moisturizing, but does not contain sunscreen. You can buy it online at http://www.drugstore.com. I also enjoy ocean potion’s sunscreens, as well.
Neutrogena Rain Bath
Again, I LOVE this stuff. And they keep coming out with new scents about the time I finish with the HUGE bottle you can get at Costco. I started with the original. Then I moved to a peach-colored citrus scent. Then I went to an aqua-colored aloe vera scent, and now I’m on a light green pear & green tea scent. Great for the shower and takes a long time to run-out!
