Three Fresh Fragrances for Spring
Ineke After My Own HeartLilac is my favorite flower, but it is hard to find a perfume with lilac notes in it that is not overly sweet and floral. Ineke’s After My Own Heart blends lilac with notes of bergamot, raspberry, sandalwood, heliotrope, musk, and green foliage for a fragrance that sparkles with freshness. The green foliage, bergamot, and raspberry open up the fragrance; then the lilac note makes its appearance before it settles into its base notes of sandalwood, heliotrope, and vanilla.
Flower by Kenzo
This fragrance is a classic I keep returning to time after time because it’s so perfect for spring. Like After My Own Heart, Flower by Kenzo is also big on bergamot. But it also combines notes of bigarade (aka bitter orange), neroli (aka orange blossom), musk, and vanilla. Wearing this fragrance reminds me of freshly cut grass and sunbathing; it has the freshness I’m looking for, but thanks to the musk and vanilla notes, it also has that creaminess I love so much on my skin.
Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne
When I think of this fragrance, images of biting into a fresh, ripe, and juicy nectarine come to my mind. This fragrance is just as juicy but with a little more sweetness to it than the other two fragrances … but not to the point that it goes overboard; it has just enough. It has fruit notes of clementine, peach, nectarine, black currant, and plum, plus a touch of green with a note of vetiver and honey for warmth. This is a fragrance I layer with shower gel and body lotion to make it go the extra mile.
Do you have a favorite spring fragrance? Do you go with the classics, or do you reach for something new? New fragrances like Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and Versace Vanitas are gorgeous florals.
