Does a Love for Beauty Equal Vanity?

When I speak with people who are outside of the beauty community, I feel pressure to constantly defend what I love about beauty. People see my passion for makeup as vanity. But honestly, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

When I think of makeup, I think about the artistry and the inspiration of taking something from one level to another—taking that one extra moment to focus on hiding your flaws and accentuating your natural beauty. I see multiple colors blending together to make something beautiful. I love watching someone transform from plain to polished in only a few stokes of the brush.
