Three Ways to Play with Fragrance

I can’t get enough of perfume. I have two drawers in my beauty stash devoted just to perfume samples, not actual bottles of perfume. What I realized recently is that I don’t do enough to incorporate fragrance into the rest of my everyday life. These are a few products I’ve been using lately to try and play with fragrance in different ways.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Les Bulles d'Agathe Pear Scented Bubbles fall under the “fun” category. I’ve had my eye on this for awhile, but never had a reason to get it until today. I was in Bergdorf Goodman and spotted these, so I went for it. These bubbles were created byMaisonFrancisKurkdjian for its namesake, Agathe, as a way to help people discover the world of fragrance while playing. You can’t actually smell anything when you blow the bubbles, which surprised me. The scent only reveals itself when the bubbles are popped. Les Bulles d'Agathe comes in four different scents: Pear, Mint, Violet, and Herbs. It retails for $20. I had a great afternoon with these in Central Park.

When I was in high school, I was obsessed with burning incense. I would go from shop to shop to seek out the most unusual incense I could find. My adult, beauty-addict version of this isPapierdArmenie LaRose Burning Papers, from Beauty Habit. The terra-cotta holder is a thousand times more stylish than the wooden incense holders of my youth, and these burning papers release the most amazing rose-scented smoke in the air. The original version also has a great scent to it, but I am a rose girl to the core. These burning papers retail for $7.

One of my bedtime rituals is to spray on a bit of perfume. I always go for my cheaper fragrances because they are easier to replace once the bottle is empty. When I smell the fragrance on my skin while I’m in bed, it somehow just makes everything better. My twist on this ritual of mine has been to introduce the Tocca Laundry Delicate collection into my laundry routine. This detergent is meant for delicate fabrics and bed linens, not for your average load of laundry. I’ve used it on lingerie and bed linens so far, and I can tell you that there’s nothing like putting on a beautiful bra or getting into bed with fresh sheets scented with Tocca’s Touch (it has notes of gardenia, pomegranate and Egyptian balsam). It is fragrance layering taken to the next level. You can find Tocca Laundry Delicate starting at $15.
