Handbag Summer Beauty Essentials
Last summer I learned a lesson I will not soon forget: sunscreen matters! Ask any beauty expert and they’ll tell you protecting your skin from the sun should be priority number one. I’ve tried to do my best to protect my skin, but I’m not perfect and forget to apply my sunscreen more often than not. My new approach is to keep a few essentials in my handbag; this way I see them every time I reach for something and am instantly reminded! These products are what I’m all about this summer:
Supergoop SPF 30+ Sunscreen Swipes: I have a sunscreen I prefer to use on my face and body, but in the absence of time, these Swipes from Supergoop make it super-easy and quick to apply sunscreen in a hurry. You can pick up a box for $34 and keep a few on hand to use as needed. Keep a few in your makeup bag!
Clinique Sun SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick: Sometimes it’s the areas that you forget that need the most attention, like your lips, eyes, and even ears. Because it has such a high SPF, I put this on my face when I know I will be in the sun for a while. Sunburn will not mess with my exfoliation routine ever again. You can pick this up for $18 at Nordstrom.
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm with SPF 25: Don’t neglect your lips; their delicate skin needs SPF, too! This is a rich, long-lasting lip balm with a decent amount of SPF. The brand’s mint version is a little too intense for me, but the new Sephora–limited edition Black Tea & Blackberry and Grapefruit & Ginger flavors are perfect for summer. These retail for $7.50 each.
Deborah Lippmann Rich Girl Hand Cream: A good hand cream with SPF is really hard to find, and one with anything above SPF15 is even harder! Your hands often show your age more than any other part of your skin. This hand cream is amazing; not only does it have SPF25, it has ingredients to help improve skin pigmentation and is good for your hands and cuticles. A little goes a long way, so keep that in mind when you look at its $28 price tag. Plus the scent instantly reminds me of summer.
