For most of us, big hair and wardrobe risks are too dramatic, and too expensive, to venture. A cheaper, easier way to refresh your look: experiment with bold eye makeup.

More exciting than your typical black or brown liner, a white eye pencil brightens your eyes and makes them really pop. To try out this hot winter trend, we suggest Napoleon Perdis’ White Eye Pencil.

To start out, line your eyes with the white pencil just like you would with a darker one, on the top and bottom lids. Add a line of black pencil eyeliner, like Laura Mercier’s Black Extreme, around the white line to illuminate eyes with a contrasting frame. Add the black line around the outside of the white and slightly smudge the two together for a smooth look. Finally, add a touch of Babor’s shimmery white eyeshadow to your top lid, and finish off the look with thickly applied waterproof black mascara, like Diorshow Iconic Extreme. For an even more dramatic look, swipe mascara on bottom lashes, too.

Et voila! You’ve updated your entire look and are ready take on the new year with (at least for one night) a new you. Keep in mind this look is best suited for the evening and could illicit some strange glances at the office.
