Bridalplasty is a new show on E!. Underneath its reality show facade, lies a dark and twisted soul. I have never before seen anything that disgusted me as much as this television show.
The premise? Take very pretty girls, with big self-esteem issues, and convince them that they’re not perfect enough to marry their fiancés (who somehow, still proposed to them, in spite of their supposed imperfections). Next, make them compete for plastic surgery procedures, until they look like creepy, plastic women. The woman who doesn’t get voted off by the end, gets her creepy, plastic wedding completely paid for by the show.
It’s sick. It revolts me on a deep level.
The whole thing is run by Shanna Moakler, a former Miss USA, who apparently enjoys the pain of others. Do you want to hear what she said to the girls who were voted off?
“Your wedding will still go on—It just might not be perfect.”
Are you freakin’ kidding me?
Women today already have horrible self-esteem. How dare she take these beautiful girls, and reinforce their belief that they are nothing? How can she sleep at night? How can she send them home making them feel like their wedding is going to be horrible, just because they couldn’t win that liposuction?
She needs to be slapped. Please someone, do it for me.
What the world needs is a show that will take women, and help them see how beautiful they are—just as they are. Not take them in, strip them naked, and say: “Your thighs are too fat, your nose is crooked, and you have this ugly scar right there.” They already see those things every day when they look into the mirror. What they need, is to learn to love what they see.
This show is proof that the world needs some serious therapy.
I hope it happens soon.
