The second season of Philippines Got Talent has just started. Got Talent, or as we call it Pilipinas Got Talent, is truly one-of-a-kind entertainment. Everything was already here: real talent, entertainment, fun, drama, comedy, touching life stories, real amazing people, wonderful and admirable individuals, and unbelievable abilities!
One Philippines Got Talent host is the actor and international pop star Billy Crawford. Contestants are judged by three entertainment icons in the Philippines. And their first audition destination is Davao City, Mindanao.
The first contestants are a brass band with seventy participants (and there are two hundred total members, but they need to choose only those best players as the space of the stage are limited for persons), and they are great! And I could see that their performances are inspired by the movie Drumline. And the three judges gave them a yes right away for their beautiful performance! A positive start for the show.
The show goes on, and more contestants present their talents and try to impress the judges and the live audiences. However, many fail and never get a yes from the three judges, except for few who get at least two yeses and are given a chance to improve and prove their talents in the next level. And some performances were hilarious—awful presentation—but the judges let them finish it as the audience was having fun, and the performers had the guts to perform in front of the whole world of Filipinos watching them on TV, not only here in Philippines but around the globe with The Filipino Channel cable.
Until a twenty-nine-year-old lady contestant captivated everyone’s heart. And guess what? She is inborn blind, but, she will sing while play an organ! Everyone keeps quiet and listens to her to begin, and everyone amazed! Not only for her beautiful voice, but for the fact of she is blind but played well! I am not familiar to the song, but I know I heard it already and it was inspiring and significant to her life and situation. One of the hosts cried—this host is not a drama actor, he is more on comedy and hosting. And he is very touched and amazed of this lady knowing of her disability. And the three judges gave her three yeses and they were very touched as well, amazed!
One of the judges, Ms. Kris Aquino, the queen of all time media, queen of game shows (some of them are Deal or No Deal and right now, The Price Is Right) and a First Lady of our country, a younger sister of our President Benigno Aquino III, commented that she is more like listening to a music box while the blind lady played the organ. Truly amazing this kind of a person, that her physical disability is not a cause or affected to not become a gifted person, admirable, and be blessed with talents.
The show went on, and many attempted to get the yes from these three judges, but some just ruined the show actually ... Some have no talent, truthfully, but how I admire their confidence and that they are able to not be ashamed to perform dreadfully!
Then the next contestant was a beautiful girl named Angel. And she was teased as one of the hosts’ girlfriend’s name is Angel as well! She even received compliments from the First Lady of how beautiful she is (and true she was). She then begins to show her talent which a Hula-Hoop dance, and she is so amazing, with gracefulness, and very good performer! After her presentation, she has asked if she took lessons for what she just presented, and her answered is NO! She never had any dance lessons or took any ballet classes! So the judges were very impressed! Her only coach is her dad, they only get some Russian videos and records and just study them! Moreover, one of the judges, who is a comedy concert queen and a movie blockbuster queen in Philippines, Ms. Ai-Ai delas Alas, was so pleased and had so much fun because Russian performance is the dance she hoped to watch in life! And tonight, Angel granted that for her! Truly a very gifted lady, as she never had any professional lessons from any dance class!
