“True Blood”–Inspired Cocktail Recipes to Die For
If you’re anything like us, your DVRs have been set for ages, anxiously awaiting the finale of True Blood, while simultaneously dreading the demise of such a deliciously guilty pleasure of a season. How will the vampires defeat Marnie? Will Baby Vamp Jess and “Sex-on-a-Stick” Jason become a real item? Will Sookie choose between Eric and Bill or will we finally get a real ménage à trois love scene? (We’re not-so-secretly hoping for the latter.) Obviously we’re amped for the finale so we were thrilled when the folks at HBO sent us the sparkling blood-orange Tru Blood beverage, perfect for vampire-inspired cocktails. Here are some of their suggested cocktail recipes that would offer a real bite to any finale party.
Faeries’ Nectar
1.5 oz. Belevedere Pink Grapefruit
3 oz. grapefruit juice
Dash of lime juice
Shake with ice and strain into a highball glass with cubed ice. Float 3 oz. Tru Blood on the surface and garnish with a lemon or grapefruit.
Lovin’ in the Coven
2 oz. Belvedere Citrus
1 oz. lemon juice
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Dash of egg white
Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass and float 1/2 oz. Tru Blood on the surface.
Belvedere Bloodsucker
1.5 oz. Belvedere Pink Grapefruit
1/2 oz. Campari
Shake and strain into a rocks glass with cubed ice. Float 1.5 oz. Tru Blood on the surface and garnish with a blood orange wedge.
Belvedere After Dark
1.5 oz. Belvedere Vodka
1/2 oz. ginger syrup
1/2 oz. lemon juice
Pour 2 oz. Tru Blood into a highball glass with ice. Shake the other ingredients and pour on top of the Tru Blood, creating a layered effect. Garnish with a slice of ginger and a blood orange
