She’s best known for her role as Alan Harper’s love interest on Two and a Half Men, but soon Kelly Stables will be hanging out with a whole new cast of guys. Kelly chatted with our celebrity correspondent about her gig on TV Land’s new comedy The Exes, premiering on November 30 at 10:30 p.m. EST.
DivineCaroline: Congrats on the new show. Tell us about The Exes.
Kelly Stables: Yeah, I am so excited. It was a lot of fun to shoot. The Exes is a multi-camera comedy that centers on three divorced men who become roommates and live across the hall from their divorce attorney Holly Brooks (Kristen Johnson) who just happens to be my boss.
DC: Describe your character.
KS: I play Eden, Holly’s legal assistant who becomes extremely involved in the guys personal lives. Eden plays hard and works hard. She loves to party and enjoys life to the fullest. She also is the type to remind her employer and friends to do the same.
DC: Does Eden have a past?
KS: Yes. We will find out Eden was once engaged but breaks the relationship off after she discovers her fiancé was cheating on her. Aside from Eden’s fun personality there is some hurt there too. Yet despite Eden’s own pain, she is Holly’s cheerleader and tries to encourage her to get back out there.
DC: Does Kelly have any crazy exes?
KS: What a neat question. Yeah all of our ex-boyfriends make some sort of impact on our lives.
DC: It is challenging to work on a multi-camera series?
KS: When I did Two and a Half Men they used four cameras plus you also had a live audience in front of you. We use a similar formula on The Exes, so I am used to this format. I also come from a theater background so I love having the audience there with you. They are such a huge part of the show.
DC: Is it nerve wracking having all these people watch you?
KS: You have to live in the reality of what is going on and focus on your fellow actors. However, having the audience there is a big part of the whole experience. I feed off of their energy. There is nothing like it; it is so amazing.
