Cannes Jam

Bonjour mes amies! I am sitting at the top of the Hotel Majestic looking out at a beautiful sapphire blue ocean, filled with enormous yachts. Meantime, the streets of Cannes are packed, with thousands of frenetic film executives, actors of every nationality and caliber and, of course, sun burned, neck-craning tourists.

The place is especially packed this year due to the coming of Christ. Oops, did I say that? I mean the impending arrival of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie. He is apparently arriving this weekend to promote Oceans 13 and she’ll be here for the movie about the murdered journalist Daniel Pearl. Access Hollywood has apparently tripled their manpower here in anticipation of the big, earth shattering interview. News of another adoption perhaps? I’m holding my breath.

Lots of stars already here including Jude Law and Nora Jones. Their movie, My Blueberry Nights, is supposed to be a big bore and suggests Nora should stick to singing. Most movie-goers say the only thing memorable about the film is the fact that she eats pie throughout the entire thing.

Jerry Seinfeld added to the constant spectacle on the Croisette by flying over it in a bee costume strung up by a cable. He’s here with Chris Rock promoting Bee Movie. If that’s the best title they could come up with, I’m not sure I’m chomping at the bit to see that flick either.

Speaking of spectacles (and bees for that matter), Ivana Trump was in the lobby of the swanky Carlton with a towering beehive hairdo and age-defying black bustier. Her man-du-jour had poorly dyed reddish hair. Suffice to say she has moved on from thirtysomethings.

We also spotted Mark Ruffalo, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and filmmaker Roman Polanski making their way thru the crowds. Meantime, Jessica Simpson is apparently on one of the boats down by the Carlton. It is apparently surrounded by photographers, but she had yet to come out in, what’s sure to be, a boob bustin’ bikini. Give it a little time, boys. You know she can’t resist. Need coffee....more later...
