Batman, played by George Clooney, whips out his Goth credit card and states, “Never leave the cave without it!” Bridget Jones and dozens of imprisoned Thai women belt out “Like a Virgin” and dance around with their bras worn on the outside of their clothes. Classic movie moments? No—more like stomping-out-of-the-theater moments.
I’d rather throw ten bucks down the drain than waste any time watching a bad movie.
What about you? What movie (or movies) have you walked out on?

"The Book of Eli", and "Cloverfield". "Lovely Bones" was also awful, but I had to stay for other reasons. I would've walked away had I had the chance.

"Spice World." Even as an eleven-year-old, I knew when my dignity was being threatened.
Freddy got Fingered - my boyfriend at the time dragged to see it. Needless to say, we both walked out in the middle of the movie.

Many years ago, while having a beer with an old friend in down town Mpls, MN . I saw that Conan the Barbarian was playing across the street. I said let's go see if it's any good and we got in line. Ahead of us were two couples about college age. The two women were complaining that the movie was going to be a real turkey. They were really giving their guys a tough time. So, without anything to base it on I spoke up and said,, "I hear it's a pretty good movie." The guys immediately spoke up in agreement and the girls remaind silent. We found seat down front - it was crowded - and settled in. After about five minutes I realized that the movie was not worth watching. My friend wanted to stay. I got up and started up the aisle. I had only taken about five steps when this voice said, loud and clear, and very sarcastic, "I HEAR IT'S A PRETTY GOOD MOVIE." I just hung my head and kept walking. She really nailed me.
Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985) - Simply boring, even for the teenager I was at the time.
The Devil's Advocate (1997) - Creeped me out a little too much to sit through the rest of it.

Ishtar....but that should just go without saying. I even saw it on a military base where movies were 1 or 2 dollars at the time. Bad, Bad, Bad!
I am a huge movie buff and have seen six films since Christmas day. I love a good cry and I am in heaven when a film is long and slow and sprawling and perhaps a period piece. The only film I ever walked out of was "The Deerhunter" I had seen it already and it was playing a few years later near where I had three hours to kill. When the scene came up where De Niro is using the flame-thrower I left my seat and staggered out onto the street where it took me a moment to recover. I am always deeply moved with cinematic displays of mans inhumanity to man. That said. I saw "The Reader" today and was touched to the core at the moment Hanna reads the word "The". The realisation that Michael was doing such a sweet deed in a state of repentance made me weep. I want everyone to go out and see "The Reader". Winslett is as brilliant as she was in "Little Children" and bares as much skin!
I guess I'm an incurable optimist because I've never walked out on a movie. I just keep hoping that the first part is the awful one and that it will somehow redeem itself eventually! The one that I remember that was the hardest to sit through, however, was "The Postman" with Kevin Cosner! Whoever put this thing together didn't have two minutes of worthwhile material in the whole shibang!
Cable Guy- classic mistake of not previewing the movie before taking my pre-teen nieces and nephews to see Jim Carey. I did NOT win Aunt of the year that year as I hauled them all out. Too dark, too sexual for them in my opinion. Now they are 20+ and remind me of it occasionally.

I know this is not a popular viewpoint, but the only movie I have walked out on was "Dirty Dancing."
The whole "nobody puts Baby in a corner" stuff just sent me over the edge! Additionally, I have never been able to see how Patrick Swayze is sexy. Different strokes, eh?

Walked out on Moulin Rouge, and somehow made it through Proof which was the most depressing movie in history. Don't watch it if your on the edge.

We recently rented the movie The New World with Colin Farrell. I figured Farrell, Christopher Plummer, Christian Bale, how can you go wrong? OH did it go wrong! It was THE worse. Pocahontas spent 3/4 of the movie twirling around in the forest like she was in a drug-induced haze and no one really ever spoke to each other -- it was full of dreadful voice overs. Close second is Portrait of a Lady and then rounding third is Girl with a Pearl Earring. I honestly don't get the appeal of Scarlett Johansson.
The only movie i can remember walking out on was "Portrait of a Lady." It was so incredibly boring. I also rented "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" since I generally like French films, but that lasted less than 3 minutes. I agree "Moulin Rouge" was horrible. I popped it out one-third of the way through.

I was so disappointed in the last James Bond film. "Quantam of Solace" was not half as good as"Casino Royale". The movie did not even start with the 007 theme song....and what a terrible song they picked to open the movie. Do they think the only people who watch 007 are hip hoppers? If you did not see the film before you"Casino Royale" you would have not have understood what was going on in this film.....NOTHING but cars speeding, men jumping, bullets flying and the story lines was ROTTEN. They need a NEW WRITER, BECAUSE the actors in the movie are WONDERFUL, shame to waste them on such bad writing.....Anyone else agree with me?
Although I know that some consider "Clockwork Orange" a classic,I just cannot take scenes of torture and evil so I left and have no idea how it ended.

After 8 painful minutes my daughter and I both rose and walked straight out of the theatre and asked for our money back at the screening of "My Best Friend's Girl" with Dane Cook. Obviously the director wanted to demean women so egregiously and he bolted right out of the starting gate with this one. Under the guise of being a romantic comedy this movie obviously sought to establish guy's rights to trash talk women while they love it. We didn't. Also, I agree with the Gian who disliked the Dewey Cox Story. The director of this movie has publicly stated that he is going to place full frontal male nudity in as many films as he can. But he didn't ask us if we wanted to see it! It was so obvious and ridiculous, made the men look like frat boys instead of adults.
The on movie that was so painful for me was HAIRSPRAY. I don't understand why people actually raved about that movie when it was clearly a mess! I couldn't get out of the theater because it was my friend's treat to us. Some treat that was... BLARGH!

Mission Impossible 2 with Tom Cruise. I was so uncomfortable that I jumped up and truly bolted. His acting was DREADFUL.
I walked out on that awful movie "Land of the dead" about the kids that go to a rave on an island and somehow end up being ripped apart by zombies...thought it would have been semi interesting as a horror buff and the movie was based on a video game. nope. 20 min into it I walked out and asked for a refund. The movie theatre refused since i had been in there for more than 10 minutes!! Not cool...
Magnolia! We turned that off after about three minutes. But the biggest waste of my life was Get Smoochy!! I kept watching thinking that it had to get better, but it just got worse and worse! I was mad about that for weeks. No other movie has burned me like that. There are several that I have just been really bored with, like The Hours, which feels like Years. Waterworld, Snake Eyes, The Love Guru, etc.

The one and only movie I walked out on (sometime in the 80's) was Bladerunner. I never bother with those futuristic movies anymore. All those futuristic movies are dark, depressing and filled with doom and gloom. I like to believe that the future is filled with hope and mercy, not androids, robots etc... my husband, at the time, wasn't too happy that I walked out of the theater but I walked out on him also.

While on last winter's holiday we thought it would be a treat to see a movie with legendary music. However, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) was beyond disgusting. We walked hard out the door. Many folks with children also walked out. Though I often enjoy John C. Reilly, his role as singer Dewey Cox could have been great had it not sunk so low with bad taste stunts I do not want to repeat. The story line parody of a singer overcoming adversity to become a musical legend is a delicious one too bad the taste was too rancid for us. On the other hand many friends have since revealed they loved it. Takes all kinds.

I almost never walk out on a movie. No matter how dreadful it is, I need to see it through to be sure that it is completely horrible. The only one that I remember walking out on was "Patton". However, that was in 1971. The Vietnam war was still in high gear. It was in a double feature with "M.A.S.H." , which I loved, and seeing the opening sequence with George C. ragiing in front of an American flag the size of a football field was just too much. In retrospect, "Patton" is the superior film -- third best of the Seventies, "M.A.S.H." about number twenty of that decade. Terri Powell and Ellen Lopes have a strange ailment: Kubrickophobia! One cannot judge any Kubrick after seeing it only once! "2001" is one of the twenty best films of all time! "Eyes Wide Shut" needs many more viewings before I can assess it. Terri also has no sense of humor -- "Road to Wellville" is one of the funniest movies ever made with an all-star cast giving tremendous performances.

The most terrible movie I had ever seen was "Cool World", the half anime half real person movie starring Kim Basinger as a cartoon character longing to be in the real world. I made it about 30 minutes into the movie and just left because that was the worst movie I had ever seen. I wish I would have walked out on the movie Cabin Fever, but sat that piece of junk out to the end, very regretfully!

The English Patient! I know it was loved but I thought it was sooooo LONG and SLOW!!!! I hated it! I tries to watch it on DVD years later, thinking my youth was to blame before for hateing it,but I still thought it was awful!
When I was younger, my Mom and Aunt took my cousins and I to see "Radio Days" - We kicked and screamed but they insisted. About halfway through the movie I looked over and saw them both asleep in their chairs! To this day we've never let them live that down.
I was also not a fan of another Woody Allen flick, "Scoop". Scarlett Johansson might be the worst actress ever.

I walked out of two movies. One was when I was a teenager, 2001:Space Odyssey, I thought it was the most boring thing I had ever seen, I still don't like it !!! The second one I walked out on was Rosewood. It was to emotional and sad and on top of that, I was the only Caucasian in the whole theatre and the way the butt hole Caucasians on the screen were acting it also made me thoroughly uncomfortable sitting there like an idiot.
Dumb and Dumber. Made through about 15-20 minutes. I was dragged in there in the first place on the condition we could leave if I didn't like it.
I've walked out on a few - Making Love, The Devil's Advocate, Jarheads... incredibly terrible movies....

I can't remember if I actually walked out, or just hoped, dreamed, and prayed that I could (I was with someone else and like you Marj K, I wanted to be polite), but I thought Water World with Kevin Costner was insufferable. I guess it's just different strokes for different folks, though. My mom and I went to see Sixth Sense together; I loved it but she snored all the way through.
I usually go to movies with other people so I've never walked out just to be polite. But at home I've turned off rentals in the middle. Two if By Sea and Clay Pigeons are two I turned off without remorse. I really wish I'd walked out of Magnolia. People walked out of that movie throughout my viewing of it, including a couple who left 15 minutes from the end. I burned with jealousy but was stuck with eight nerdy guys who actually liked that movie.
