I have a friend and he and his wife are a duo and they were playing tonight at a local pizza bar. I have been wanting to hear they play for sometime but never had the time to go before so I made time tonight. I also made another friend come out and meet me after she played two rounds of soccer. Needless to say she was a little worn out and didn't last too long.
So the place where they played is a really great local pizza bar. I love their pizza. But that is not the point of this. It has been sometime since I have walked throughout the place and I have forgotten how much they have expanded. Hanging out at one of the bars waiting for the show to start I found out they booked another band. So my friends duo swapped set times tonight with the other group (well, duo) called Hambone. They are a blues duo with mostly their own works. Pretty good. I love blues but have to be in a mood to hear it. While it was good I wasn't really in the mood for blues.
After the first groups set my friends took the stage (yay!) their duo is called Babyfishmouth. They play oldies and songs that you want to sing to, dance to and well hula hoop to.
While watching and listening to them play I had to watch the other folks in the bar. I am not an overly big drinker these days. But i love to people watch it is amazing what you can observe in others. There was a mix of people there but mostly an older crowd (early forties, maybe) ok so not an older crowd but I guess a more mature crowd. I noticed a few women that were dressed in what a junior size would wear. Ummmm yeah. There are some things that your age can not handle. Even if you are lucky enough to get into the size. Then its also a little fun to watch the ladies make themselves available for the guys. The guys they appear cocky and self-important. The chest all puffed up walking around with a strut. A little like a peacock.
I guess I need to get out a little bit more often. I love live music. My friends duo was fantastic and I loved hearing them play. Their energy is great. Both are the best people I have ever met. I just love them! If you ever happen to stumble upon a duo called Babyfishmouth give them a listen you will be glad you did.
