For those of you looking for the man of your dreams or simply a date this week, here’s a helpful tip: let social media be your own personal dating service. While this might seem like a far-fetched idea, it worked for unlucky-in-love actress, Jennifer Love Hewitt, who used her Twitter account to candidly express her desire to hook-up with The Bachelorette’s runner-up, 28-year-old Ben Flajnik.
Shortly after Ashley Hebert broke Ben F’s heart on national television, J. Love tweeted, “Omg! Ben f except [sic] my final rose !!! I love that ring. Neil lane u rock!! Happy for Ashley.... Gotta book a flight to Sonoma !!!:):)”
Turns out, J. Love’s playful, flattering tweet, and promise to give Ben lots of “twugs and twisses,” was exactly the ego-boost the floppy-haired winemaker needed to put the past behind him and jump back on the dating bandwagon. A day later, Ben F. began following the starlet on Twitter, which in this case, seemed to translate to, “I’ll accept your final rose, Jennifer Love Hewitt.” Within weeks, the pair took their digital relationship offline and were spotted at a popular San Francisco bar for a more traditional first date.
Apparently their night out on the town was indeed a success, as J. Love promptly updated us all the day after, tweeting, “Morning lovelys! I got lost in the most amazing sat! Just when you think u can't be surprised.... You are and it's awesome!”
It sounds like Hewitt’s bold move may have turned her love life around—after all the girl proved she can land a man in less than 140 characters! We’re curious: have you ever used Twitter or Facebook in a similar manner? How has social media affected your online and offline dating life?
