I was checking my patients’ charts one day when I overheard the nurses whispering and looking at something and when I turned around, two doctors passed by, obviously a couple from their body language. I immediately recognized them as residents in the hospital, and the guy was known to be one of the good-looking doctors, the equivalent of Orlando Bloom in our hospital. As for the girl, she was considered not bad-looking but nothing extraordinary either. However, if you weigh the subjective attractiveness and the way people would swoon over the guy, I would say he was more attractive than she is. Unfortunately, people do talk about you when you’re with a good-looking guy and you’re ... not. It is unfair that when a woman is hot, the man is considered lucky to have a “trophy girlfriend/wife” but when the opposite happens, people would wonder what kind of charm or hypnotism was done on him.
Which is why I only go out with guys less pretty than me, but still pretty (just kidding!) But seriously ... when I think about it, if I were dating a swimsuit model, I would probably get hate-mails everyday. I would be consumed to always look as hot or even hotter than he is so I would always measure up. But it is hard if a woman is insecure about herself and she would know there is always somebody smarter, taller, or better looking, then she would be more obsessed about the outside than what really counts.
My word of advice? Date whoever you want. If you were able to snag a Brad-Pitt look-alike, then good for you! I’m sure he would see something special in you, and not just your looks. Don’t let those jealous stares get to you!
