Love Is Worthless

What do you do when you have a kid by a guy and his family interferes?

I've been dating Tevin M. for about a year and half. We're not together because his step mother and dad didn't want us to be together.

To make matters worse, we have a kid.

They have made my life miserable. These past few months have been nothing but court dates and arguing and fighting over my five month-old. Everything is about who's going to get custody of her.

I'll tell you the story of why he can’t see her:

It was a Thursday and I just got suspended. Tevin's mother came to my house and sat down for a few minutes. His sister called Tevin to ask me if he was mad because I fought Autumn (Tevin’s sister and my step-sister). He said no, but asked if he could keep our daughter over the weekend. I thought the issues were just between me and Autumn, but apparently not.

I went the next day to get her, but Tevin wouldn’t give her to me. His step mother told me that I couldn’t have her back. I looked her in the eyes and said:

“Who do you think you are?”

From there, the situation broke out into the street. I sat in the middle of the road begging and crying for my baby. Finally, I went to walk up their steps and Tevin’s mom stops me and tells me to get into the car. I wasn’t going to, but she finally got me in.

This is my world I’m talking about! You don’t just leave your kid behind! What was I thinking letting her go after I got in a fight with his step-sister? How dumb of me!

The bad thing is his mom knew that he was going to try to keep her from me and never told me a thing. But, you know, that’s her son and going side with him no matter what.

Now, I’ve got his sister after me. These people have tried everything to get my kid out of this house. Social services and everything else you can think of…besides court (legal action) because they have to pay for a lawyer and they are too cheap for that.

I’ve given him chances to be able to see her, but he doesn’t want to sign his visitation papers. So…that’s on him.

All I can say is don’t end up like me: 15 years-old with a baby and struggling to keep your cool,

Thank God for my mother. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
