Ex’s Can Make Better Friends

Okay, so now I’ve been divorced from my first husband for about six and a half years. I came to realize that we just weren’t compatible enough to make it work. Yeah, it was hard in the beginning, but still we kept the peace because one very important thing that we did agree on that is our son!

We built a friendship soon because we didn’t want to fail at yet another thing. See when two people end up divorced, or end the relationship, that shouldn’t mean the end of the world! So many people use the children as pawns in “the game.” That really (excuse me for saying this) it pisses me off! You don’t need to be selfish and make it hard on the other parent because you have so much hate for them! If it didn’t work out … life happens! Yeah, it hurts, but you need to put on the big people panties, and get over it!

People seem to forget, they made the choice to bed with the other, make a child, then tend to forget they were in it for the long run, even if it didn’t work out. So, they use the children as game pieces! See, I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I have step-children, and two of my own. I love them all very much. But...my ex-husband and i were smart to stay united in the fact that we don’t want our son to grow up in a dysfunctional divorce! I truly think highly of my ex. I also do like his current wife! (Ain’t that a shocker!)

Anyhow, our son is an a student. Since kindergarten, thru to high school! I am so proud of him! But if it weren’t for me and my ex to talk to each other, don’t communicate thru the children, and listen, and most importantly, stay united, our son would really be messed up! So to all those that read this article, ask yourself, am I thinking of the child(ren)’s best interest, or my own? And never talk about the other parent in front of the child in a negative way. Besides, you’re only going to cut your own throat! Take it from someone who learned from other people’s mistakes, besides my ex is a better friend!

Things happen for reasons!
