Can We Love Two People at the Same Time?

To me, the answer is definitely yes!

My problem: I love my boyfriend but he is not my first love. I still love that man from years ago and I love my boyfriend. In my heart this feels exactly right.

Think about the people close to you who have died. Just because they’re gone, do you stop loving them? Do you stop caring for them, remembering them? No, right? Their memory is always with you. Have you ever found yourself remembering something silly you did with that person and end up smiling and feeling warm inside?

Why, then, is it people want to forget the person that once made them smile? Just because they’re no longer in our lives, does it mean we have to erase every trace, every feeling, all the smiles, and all the love?

How many of you save trinkets from your time with a person? I know I save all the pictures, the poems, the songs ... I treasure them and when I miss them, which I do every once in a while, I revisit the past in that special box ...

Just because you loved someone and now there’s someone new doesn’t mean you have to divide your love, or take away the love from your old flame to give it to your new beau. Humans have the capacity to regenerate love whenever we love someone new, be it a special someone, a friend, or a new family member, our love multiplies for each person.

So don’t try to forget, because memories are the ones that will keep you company during old age.
