I find it interesting the way people describe a “whore.” It’s like religion, person to person the theme is there, but the specifics are vastly different. Today I was chatting with a few close female acquaintances and they were telling me that a woman that has sex with a different man each week is in fact a whore ... “Why?” I said. “Don’t you look at men during the week and fantasize about getting with them for a night?” They said sure we do but it’s different if you actually do it. Again I asked why? What happens in the transfer of a thought to an action that makes a woman a whore? Then I had a thought and changed the course of the conversation. I said, “Are porn stars whores?” They replied that they were. Okay I said, do you like porn? They all said yes. I went a little further and said do you respect a whore? They said no. What about porn stars, do you respect them? They said no again. I had a problem with that.
How can you like to watch porn but then call the people who just provided you entertainment, whores? And since loss of respect for an individual is related to the term whore. How can you enjoy these whore-like acts (by your own definition) and then respect yourself?
I once had a conversation with a good buddy of mine who, in conversation, said that he did not respect strippers but he liked to go to strip clubs. I was appalled. I tried to imagine the thoughts in his head as he looked at a stripper in a demeaning, second class, whore-type way. For me at least, looking at a stripper in that way would ruin the strip club experience. I can’t be turned on if I’m disgusted by someone. Who can? See why I was disturbed?
In conclusion, I’m not saying you must respect porn stars and strippers and condone their actions (that is a personal decision based on your beliefs). I’m just pointing out that when choosing your actions, you need to pick ones that support your ideology if you want to give your beliefs weight!
