I once dated a guy with a high-pitched voice bordering on Mickey Mouse tonalities, and although he was socially generous and fiscally responsible, he had no passion and no desire to protect me. He told me on several different occasions that if we were far away from home (we didn't live together), let's say, at a national park or an amusement park, and we got separated from each other, he would leave me there. The second time he said that, I knew I didn't want to remain in the relationship with him. But I should've known from the beginning that, in the words of Linda Ronstadt, he was no good. Why? He didn't enjoy kissing. We both had good dental hygiene, too. Go figure. ... Anyhoo, as to matching up voice and looks, if Barry White were still alive, I'd still be fantasizing about dating him -- no matter how impracticable since I don't have the pipes to be a background singer, nor a strong-enough ribcage to support the immortal Loveman.

well I have found that men with a soothying sexy voice, turn out to be liars or cheats. I married a man with a very annoying voice, because he is the kind of man to be true blue to me as as never cheating. But I now can't stand to hear him talk.

I'm a speech pathologist & voice coach, often asked to help people who are losing their voices because they're trying to go too low...women especially say that when their voices are achey, hoarse, & have diagnosed lesions, they get compliments for sounding sexy. So I believe the report that low voices are preferred, but I also think this is a cultural thing, especially for women. Was the research done with people all over the world, or only in TV+pop-culture-drenched US? Most of the women I hear on reality TV sound damaged. A world-class throat-MD I know calls it "socially acceptable hoarseness". An actor friend says "people think that a woman with a smokey voice is careless with her health & therefore more open to casual sex." HUH? I tell my patients that a HEALTHY voice, one that fits your own body & expresses your individual truth, has most appeal & authority. Try my vocal health quiz, www.voiceofyourlife.com.

Hmmmm...I've known DJ's who sound sooo sexy on the radio and end up looking, er, not so sexy in real life. I guess it depends if the person practices modulating his/her voice!
