I Hate My Husband

When I first met my husband, I thought that he was perfect and since we started out as close friends, almost like girlfriends, I thought he was perfect and then more perfect. My husband and I met five years ago at a party, neither of us had been in a recent relationship, and neither of us was looking to start a relationship at the time. For the sake of sharing this story with you, why don’t we call my husband Tony? Tony, was so handsome in my humble opinion; he was tall and had the most amazing personality, and as luck would have it, we met, we talked, we laughed, and we grew on each other like an awful fungus on a sickly tree.

I have to admit that I fell for my husband almost instantly, but I knew that he was not interested in me in that way. You ask me how I knew? Well because he told me. Over and over again, you ask me if I listened? Well, no, I did not. I honestly believed that I could change his mind, I thought that if I gave him love like he had never had it before, I would win him over, and I did, but not in the way I had hoped. Needless to say, after three years of a great friendship, Tony and I began to date. Some people would describe our relationship as friends with benefits, but I describe it as dating. Don’t feel sorry for me, I got myself into this mess. So, where was I? Oh yes, dating!

We never went anywhere together, we never made love, he never introduced me to any of his friends, we never kissed, he never gave me gifts on Valentine’s day, but still, TO ME, he was my man and I was his woman. Going into our third year as friends, I started to notice little things about Tony that were very interesting, the major thing being that he never introduced his dates to me. I mean I am not sure what my feelings would have been, but we were best friends. I also noticed that every time I would introduce him to one of my dates, he would get extremely angry, so therefore, I stopped introducing dates and then I stopped going on dates altogether. By the time we got to three years and six months, we were inseparable, as long as we were at home alone.

Finally, the day that I had been praying for finally came. Tony asked me to marry him. The proposal went a little something like this. If we are both single in six months, do you want to get married? Of course, I was overjoyed. I realize that you may be reading this story with your jaws dropped, but do yourself a favor, close your mouth, it gets better.

The night before our wedding, Tony and I decided to go on fishing trip to celebrate. Later on that night while Tony was asleep, his phone rang, and when I answered, the person on the end hung up. This was not important until the phone started to buzz again, but this time it was not a call, it was a text message; yes I did, but I still regret it. The girl was nude in the picture and the caption read, what happened to you tonight? This was not the worst thing he had ever done, but it was enough, so I called the wedding off and moved out. Yes, I stood up, I let him know that I would not stand around and be played for a fool. I let him know that I meant business and two months later, I went back to him. I moved back in, fell for him and his disrespect all over again, but this time, things would be different; yes, they were different alright.

I agree with finallyme langley, you have low self-esteem. You don't love him or yourself. This is probably your stepping stone to become a stronger person. He may have been put there for you to realize your worth before you meet the true love of your life. Whatever you do, take a break from men and have a relationship with yourself before you get involved again.

Honey, leave his sorry ass. I don't think you hate him, I think you have low self esteem. You gotta find something you like and start working on yourself. But get the hell out! The longer you wait the harder it is.
