Moving on Along with the Past

There is something about divorce. I don’t know if many share the same experience as me, but it left me with a void. It seems like there is a hole somewhere in my body that I just can’t seem to find, no matter what I do. I always feel there is something missing.

Yes, we all say we have moved on but I wonder if anyone realized we still carry the past with us; the past sometimes remind us to be more careful and sometimes there’s just something we cannot let go. All the energy we used when we were in a relationship left us exhausted and so little energy left to move on with our new life. It might take another few years to fill back our empty emotions and energy or maybe more, it all depends what kind of things we went through.

So I wonder if anyone can move on without taking the past with them, to be able to start over completely with no flashback of the bitter past. I can say I have moved on, slow and steadily but it’s not always a smooth ride. I’m happy where I am now and always looking forward for new possibilities and surprises in my life. As we move forward, we will make more mistakes and hopefully it’s different each time so we can learn more. I have no regrets. I think I have lived my life as I want and did what I needed to do. Now that I have a second chance to live my life again, I will try my best to make wiser choices and just do my best to be happy again. Divorce is not a life sentence; it’s just that we get another chance to make things better and to find better love that we deserve. Not everybody get a second chance in life so why not take the opportunity. As for the void I’m feeling, I just have to live with it and hopefully able to fill it one day.
