Stellar Parent
just to help clear things up the Smarties you are referring to here are called Rockets in Canada and they are gf. Smarties in Canada are a chocolate covered candy like M&M's and do contain gluten.
Dum Dum Pops are a gluten, nuts, soy, wheat and dairy free candy that can be passed out to children on Halloween without worrying about allergies. If you would care to add it to your resource page, I think it could be useful for those trying to be allergy conscious this Halloween season. Healthy Halloween Candy
Hi, I appreciated your article very much, but wanted to add, as I see now that Chancie has done before me, that Smarties do contain wheat flour, at least the Smarties that I have seen in Canada. So, Canadian readers need to be aware of this possible difference. Thanks again! Katherine Kavanagh Hoffman
Chancie, thanks very much for your comments. I think I should have made clear that I am writing only about US candy. I take writing about items that affect people's health very seriously and will make note of regional candy differences going forward. In the US M&Ms are gluten free except for the crunchy ones. Smarties in the US are not similar to M&Ms. As always, I suggest we always read labels as formulations do change. A good source of information for the US is The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness. http://www.celiaccentral.org/Volunteer/Kids_Corner/Hall...

Hello, this is a comment about the article "Gluten Free Halloween Candy" I just thought i would let you know that i know for sure smarties are not gluten free, they have wheat flour in them. And also some of the mini m&m's also have wheat flour. The larger m&m's seem to be fine, the only question would be in regards to the artificial colours and flavors
It feels good to write.
