Can You Train Your Baby to Sleep?

Many experts claim that you can “train” your baby, as early as six weeks to sleep through the night. For me, that was too early. Experts say, however, that by setting a regular routine at this wee age—such as bath, book, snack, bed—you can set the stage for a good night’s sleep. For me, it wasn’t that simple—especially when breastfeeding every two hours. How about you? Any tricks to get a baby to sleep through the night?

I remember when my kiddies where wee little things, my hubby and I did do the training of the baby to sleep. At first, the very early stages of breast feeding every two hours, we just got them to have a "regular routine" at night. That meant getting them in the bath and pjs at the same time every day. We worked gradually, one small routine at a time until the routine and baby were in sink. The best advice came from a follow mom friend who suggested "adjusting" the baby's sleep schedule 15 minutes a day. It seemed to work, but it may have been that my hubby and I were being trained to our babies schedule. :)

Six weeks sounds quite early to me. However, it can be done. We "Ferberized" our baby at 4 months, and it worked like a charm.

I think early than 6 wks. is to early. I mean the newborn is going to sleep anyway for 6 wks. RIGHT?
