Santa! I Know Him!

Three and a half might just be the perfect age for the magic of Santa. In our house, we enjoy the magic of Christmas in multiple ways and Santa is a part of the magic, for as long as we can make it last.

When Jack Jack found this Santa hat in our decoration box, he exclaimed “Mom! How did Santa’s hat get in here? We need to give it back to him! Maybe we should weave it out fo him wif some milk and cookies!”

Until Jack Jack decides to give the hat back to Santa, he has been wearing it as much as possible in Santa’s place. The other night, as I ran Jack’s bath water and told him to take his clothes off, I turned to see a grinning Jack Jack, completely naked except for the Santa hat. He would only take the hat off when it was time to wash his hair.

Jack Jack’s current favorite movie is the Polar Express. He has watched it so many times that he acts out the scenes and tells daddy and I what to say and when to say it. The night that daddy made tickets for the Polar Express and then pulled out the hole puncher, Jack Jack almost burst with excitement as daddy punched his tickets for him. “Daddy! You have a REAL PUNCHER!” He has loved these tickets so much that daddy has had to make new ones already.

The magic of Christmas is real, if you chose to believe, or even just allow yourself to see it through the eyes of those who do.

Bonus magic for anyone who knows what movie the title of this post came from.

continued.... while we were at the mall seeing santa, some teenage boy came running through saying santa wasnt real, and I wasnt sure what I was going to say to Quinton.... and he just stopped, got an amused look on his face and said " well I guess we know that he's a BAD kid, cause EVERYONE who is good KNOWS that santa is real... and if you dont think he's real it must be cause he didnt bring you presents since you were bad." and all I could do was be thankful that I didnt have to answer the Question yet! Now I just have to figure out how to keep him from spoiling it for his little brother once he figures it out...lol

It's true that 3 seems to be the perfect age.... when my oldest boy Quinton was 3 (he's 8 now) we left out milk and cookies and sent him to bed, then we set up his presents, ate the milk and cookies and opened the fireplace and hung a "santa" hat on it... the next morning I was up before he was and he ran into the living room, saw his toy and his eyes got BIG... then he looked towards the fireplace and saw the hat, and he FROZE in place and started yelling MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY.... Santa left his hat!!!! What is he gonna do without it? I laughed and let him know that I was sure Santa had more then one hat but that we would put it aside for him and next year we would put it out with his milk and cookies so that he could get it back! It was the most fun I have ever had, now He is almost 8 and I think this is our last year for santa with him... but by youngest is 18 months so we will have fun with him.... but they will find ways to keep believing as long as they can... I remember last year
It feels good to write.
