Heads Up Parents!

Teacher’s communicating clear assignment goals are positively essential. For example, indicating how the lesson relates to the school curriculum and the state standards aids and abides students and their parents with upfront information about what they can expect as the desired outcome that will be based on fielding the plethora of lessons throughout the academic year. Ideally, teacher instruction aides the student with an understanding that not only will her students be assessed she will disclose what the assessment will look like.

Students learn at variable rates and in a myriad of ways. Keep in mind that most teachers create their lessons for the class median. All teachers must clearly state to both parents and students that in order to make and take the most out of their lessons it is through practice that the desired crystallized acquisition and reflex can eventually evolve. In truth, it is not a matter that practice makes perfect but rather, practice makes for automated responses. It’s the automation, which makes room for new information to become retained, that’s where parents need to step in: make sure your child practices.

A true cry for parents' involvement in homework....a necessary, although, at times, arbitrary evil. Parents and teachers need to see eye to eye....in my humble opinion.
