Andrea Rosenfeld, professional artist and Reiki practitioner creates art jewelry using healing stones. These minerals directly affect each Chakra point in the body so she thought to offer information so that he clients will know how her work can help them heal.
Chakra means wheel of light in Sanskrit (historical Indo-Aryan language). There are seven major chakras, each in a circular wheel of light spinning in your energetic system; associated with certain body parts, a color, stones, element and function. They are vertically aligned in the center of the body close to the spine. By learning to tune into the energy of your chakras, you can begin to embrace the fullness of who you truly are.
I would like to gently explain each chakra point and offer ways to help balance them; the second Chakra is known as the Sacral (sacred) Chakra.
Sacral Chakra
Location: Lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel and two inches in.
Color: Orange. Orange symbolizes energy. It is a combination of red (for personality) and yellow (for wisdom). Orange integrates these to help us overcome anger and develop self-control.
The second Chakra, the Sacral Chakra, relates to our ability to feel creative (that’s me!), sexual, and accept change. Located at the genital area, this Chakra monitors sexuality and reproduction (which is akin to creativity). The Sacral Chakra is the most feminine of the seven chakras. It is profoundly connected with fertility and is ruled by the moon, which pulls not only the seas and oceans, but the water within our own bodies. This Chakra is associated with reproductive organs, stomach and the colon. A healthy Sacral Chakra will assist in the wielding and manifesting raw creativity into an external form, including through relationships with another. A healthy Sacral Chakra allows us to “go with the flow” of life.
I smile whenever I fix my mind on my Sacral Chakra because I relate to that area as an artist and a Mother. If I get blocked, creatively, I’ll create an swirling, orange glow in the warmth of my womb and imagine it growing inside of me and expanding outward.
Signs that your Root Chakra is out of balance:
1. Guilt
2. Self-pity
3. Manipulative behavior
4. Envy
5. Sexual problems
6. Jealousy
7. Obsession
Signs that your Root Chakra is too open:
1. Forget your own needs
2. End up feelings like a martyr
When this Chakra is in balance, we feel joyful, enthusiastic, sociable, and self-assured. When it’s out of balance, we see irresponsibility, exhibitionism, destructive behaviors and selfishness. When out of balance, all kinds of problems can arise. If you have a closed or blocked Sacral Chakra, you can become obsessed with sex or your own sexuality, and have total disregard for partners. On the other extreme, you may become frigid or impotent.
Foods that assist the Sacral Chakra: Fats and oils, fish (especially wild-caught salmon), tropical fruits, seeds, nuts, orange-colored foods (oranges, tangerines, carrots, etc.)
Healing Exercises: Pelvic thrusts and circular pelvis movements.
Stones that heal the Sacral Chakra; orange and yellow Jasper, Carnelian, and Citrine colored stones.

The next Chakra post will cover the third level or Solar Plexus Chakra.
