When this uber-organized pregnant solo mama contacted us, we both flashed back to our own pregnancies. And we admit that our own childbirth experiences (forever fresh in our minds) uh … took place a while back.
So, gratefully, we share this soon-to-be solo mama’s worries with you. Of course, we’re relying on YOU (as always) to share your experiences with the newest member of our Singlemommyhood community.
Here’s what this pregnant single mama told us:“Mr. Right never showed up. And I was tired of waiting. I’m expecting a baby (she wants to be surprised about the gender) in late January,” says this soon-to-be solo mom.
We are impressed: This obviously capable woman is tackling the singlemommyhood challenge head on. She rattled off a list of plans accomplished—as well as tasks still on her “to-do” list.
Here’s the part of our conversation that really caught our attention: This pregnant choice mom is starting to craft her birthing plan and she’s admittedly frantic about the possibility of a C-section. Of course, she’s well aware that circumstances can make an emergency C-section the only option. But, we all know that C-section rates have risen sharply.
“I just want to be prepared for the experience in case it happens to me,” she tells us, anxiously. “I’m trying hard to plan carefully. I read EVERYTHING. And I worry about the possibility of an unplanned C-section.”
Here’s what this solo mama would love to know from YOU …
Did you have an unplanned C-section? If so, why?
Do you have regrets about this birthing experience?
If so, how did you handle these negative feelings?
