The memorable “Three Day Diet” goes back to 1985 and today can be found all over the net and on at a bookseller’s shop. The three day diet and its variations promise fast fat loss, a cleaning of the system, lower cholesterol and elevated energy all through a “specific metabolic reaction” that no form of the three day diet has ever proven. The diet is to be followed for only three days, with an off period of about five days in between diet times. All the variations of this three day diet include detailed steps that must be adhered to and foods that must be ingested in order for the diet to give promised results. What easier way to blame the dieter when it doesn’t work than you bungled the diet?
Breakfast on day one comes with coffee (no sugar), one half a grapefruit, and a piece of toast with 1 Tbsp peanut butter. For lunch, you are to eat a can of tuna, a piece of toast, and black coffee. For dinner it’s three ounces of chicken or lean meat, a cup of green beans, one cup of carrots, one apple, and one cup of regular vanilla ice cream. The other two days are about the same but with some exchanges such as hot dogs instead of lean meat. The diet sellers claim that weight loss of ten pounds is attainable over the three days that the diet lasts.
Baloney! How’s that for on target answer? (And no, baloney is not found on the three day diet.) There is no evidence for the so-called “specific metabolic reaction.” The only reason this three day diet would work to help a person lose weight is because of the lack of calories in the diet. Actually, because the three day diet is so reduced in carbohydrates a dieter could drop ten pound in three days. Of course most of that would be water weight because carbohydrates cause the body to retain water. By the way, dropping that much weight from not retaining water is dangerous as the body needs water to survive.
Because of overindulgence after such starvation and because most of the weight lost is due to water, the weight will quickly rebound after you finish the three day diet.
To prevent quick weight gain I found the best use for the three day diet is to use it to fast track my weight loss before commencing a long term weight loss diet. What has worked for me is Meridia Weight Loss diet pills also called Reductil Online diet pills. These appetite suppressant diet pills help me stick to my diet plan and they are one the few weight loss pills recommended for taking long term.
