Ginger is incredibly useful for digestion problems or nausea and upset stomach, even in pregnant women. That’s why everyone says to drink ginger ale when sick. But what if you don’t want to drink all that syrupy sugar and carbonation? There’s always the possibility of making a nice ginger tea; it’s better for you and works more effectively.
Ginger root can be found in most grocery stores. Just boil some water and chop a small piece of the root off, then dice that piece into smaller pieces. Put the ginger in a tea strainer (if you don’t have a tea strainer just throw them into the water; it’ll work the same, but you’ll have to be careful now that there are pieces floating around in the tea). Let the ginger soak in the hot water for five to seven minutes and then it’s ready to drink!
Ginger contains oils that reduce stomach acid that cause diarrhea and stomach cramps. It aids with getting over colds and coughs. Ginger has also been known to help blood circulation and speed the metabolism. I drink ginger tea nearly every day and I noticed that when my friends are shivering and cold, I rarely ever am. I blame it on my addiction to this healthy herbal tea*. I have also read that ginger can slow and prevent the process of cancer growth in animals from the American Cancer Society. That alone is very exciting news!
*To add antioxidant health and better flavor, steep decaffeinated green tea along with the ginger.
