My resolute consumption of green tea began sometime last year. Sure, I have read up on the benefits of green tea from various sources, but after drinking it regularly for almost a year and a half, there have been effects I have observed that are seldom written about.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have been observing some of these:
1) Green tea diminished my sugar cravings—At any given time of the day, I could shuck away unbelievable amounts of sugary stuff, sometimes even resorting to the pure juice (a teaspoonful of sugar, palm candy, or a couple large pinches of Muscovado that I store in my pantry). But with green tea, I find myself wanting less sugar. The craving itself seems to have gone a place slightly far away.
2) Green tea helps me eat healthier—If I know I’m having a cup shortly after lunch or before a meeting, it does deter me from eating something I normally wouldn’t care to resist. Try eating pizza with a cup of green tea, and you will know what I mean.
3) Green tea helped make my meals smaller—Again, I don’t know if it’s about consuming green tea after a very large meal, or not combining certain foods with green tea (I would never have green tea after eating a bit of cheese, or yogurt or diary. Instead, I would eliminate these at lunch and have it as a small snack (or a mini-meal in itself), but I can now better regulate my meal quantity.
How about all of you out there? Did you see any benefits from green tea that you don’t usually read/hear about?
