Quick Tip: Where Friends Can Help

I have a pretty good dental record, but not the flossing part. I hate flossing and don’t do it very often. That is, until my friends and I created a little daily flossing email check-in. Every morning we send a quick email out to each other: “Flossed” or “flossfail.” It’s as simple as that. No judgement. After months of this, I can’t believe how effective it is. I’m not perfect, but I floss probably 6 days a week.

I’m sure this little trick of emailing a small group of close friends could work with other things—taking your daily vitamin? daily meditation? these small, but important things we all want to do, but somehow slip off the radar. In my experience, when the thing to be done gets a little bigger—say working out or dieting, a simple email check in doesn’t work quite as well or last as long.

Maybe this will help you and your friends put that healthy habit back in your life.
