A bunion is a prominence on the inner side of the foot at the base of the big toe. When a person has a bunion, the big toe angles in toward the other toes, a condition called hallux valgus. Bunions are most common in women, and the cause is often attributed to unsuitable footwear.
As a foot reader, I uncover the emotional reasons our feet look like they do. So, for foot reading purposes, we have to distinguish between a bunion and a large bone of responsibility. A large bone of responsibility is a large bump at the base of the big toe. In foot reading, it reflects taking on a lot of responsibilities. This person is always busy and rarely takes time to pamper themselves.
A bunion means you have a bump AND the bones shift and move the big toe towards the other toes. In foot reading this shows that your need to be responsible for everyone is moving you away from your own needs, goals, and ability to take care of yourself.
I believe that bunions are most common in women not because of shoes but because women often take on the nurturer-caretaker role and are most likely to put their needs behind others.
