A Cystic Acne Sufferer Shows Us Her Makeup Routine

When most of us put on makeup, we’re concerned about brightening eyes, evening skin tone, or covering up a minor zit or two. You know, the small stuff.

Meet Cassandra, a YouTube makeup video star who suffers from cystic acne. In this video tutorial, she shows viewers how she puts on foundation to cover her acne, which she admits to being incredibly insecure about. The video is pretty amazing, from Cassandra’s vulnerability in showing the world her naked skin, right down to her damned impressive application technique. (Seriously—with makeup, you’d never know that she had skin problems.)

While watching this video, I was struck by two things. The first was how silly it is to obsess over tiny “imperfections” like pores or microscopic zits. The second is how incredibly beautiful Cassandra is, and how having acne doesn’t change that one bit.
