Are you scared of getting old and wrinkly? I notice that there are so many commercials about using creams and lotions to erase the “signs of time,” but why are we so focused on staying young forever? I know that I think about that all the time and I think it’s scary to think about getting old and wrinkled. You never see pictures in magazines or on commercials of older beautiful people with wrinkles. It’s always pictures of younger beautiful people with no wrinkles, no gray hair, and flawless skin! Looking perfect and finding the fountain of youth is the “in” thing now.
How do we overcome this and accept older women with wrinkles as beautiful? Their smile lines and crows feet are signs of a happy and meaningful life, right? Both my grandmas are beautiful with their pretty white/silver hair and their wrinkles on their faces. I see pictures of them when they were younger and yes, they were gorgeous then, but they are beautiful now, too! Some women say that using creams and lotions to get rid of wrinkles is just being fake and they are afraid to show their age, but others believe that it’s just a part of staying healthy and keeping your skin beautiful. I am torn between the two. I am currently twenty-four and am only now getting over my acne phase. I just want to live a healthy, happy and fit life! I want to protect my skin and keep it healthy and glowing but I will not stress over a few little wrinkles.
I think as long as we feel beautiful on the inside it will show through to the outside even if we have gray hair and wrinkles. Smiling may cause wrinkles but I smile because I love to smile, it makes me feel good and when I smile at others it makes them feel good as well. So ... let’s keep smiling at each other and make each other feel beautiful with or without wrinkles! Eat healthy, stay fit, think positively, and be happy for who you are. Aging is a beautiful thing! Be happy for the life you live and the experiences you’ve had! Share your life with others and don’t be scared of aging and wrinkles. Life life to the fullest every day and don’t worry about the little things in life, just be happy to be alive! “Worrying is like a rocking chair ... it gives you something to do ... but gets you nowhere!”
