Ten Delicious Foods That Will Give You Great Skin

How many times have we all heard the expression “you are what you eat”? When it comes to reaching our fitness goals, this is definitely a principle to live by. Loading up on carbs, consuming fatty foods, and not minding the caloric content of food can lead to disastrous results as far as our weight is concerned.

The same principle applies when it comes to the foods we eat and the quality of your skin. You might be surprised at how loading up on a lot of fruits and vegetables can do wonders for your epidermis.

The problem is that we live in a world where everybody seems to be looking for that quick fix. Rather than thinking about the natural methods we can use to improve the quality of our skin, many of us look for answers on the shelves of drugstores and department stores. We look for creams that help prevent wrinkles, lotions that make our skin smooth, and “miracle” pills that will make us instantly youthful looking and beautiful.

But if you really want to have better looking skin, the best way to get it is the old-fashioned way: by feeding your skin with delicious and healthy foods that retain that youthful glow. Aside from giving you a lot of other healthy benefits, consuming these foods will help your skin remain luminous, elastic, smooth to the touch, and healthy.

1. Avocados
This rich tropical fruit is filled with vitamins C and E, which work well toward fighting the effects of skin aging.

Although avocados are high in fat, the type of fat they have is monounsaturated. This means that they’re loaded with omega-3 fatty acids that help improve the quality of our skin.

2. Berries
Blueberries, black currants, raspberries, cranberries, and strawberries are all beneficial for our skin. Even better are the exotic Acai berries, which come from the Amazon forests in Brazil.

Acai berries have the most potent antioxidant content of any fruit in the world, which is why they’ve been called a super food. When we load up on foods that are rich in antioxidants, we neutralize the free radicals in our body, the culprits behind premature skin aging and cell damage.

Yes! Another reason to eat avocado with everything! I'll start working more of these foods into my diet, maybe more pomegranate juice? Great article.
