First Visit with the Rheumatologist

Needless to say I am both excited and nervous about meeting the rheumatologist tomorrow. While it will be nice to finally put a name to whatever it is that originally caused my fistula, I’m also concerned about just exactly which autoimmune disease it might be.

I was originally diagnosed as having rheumatoid arthritis in my left foot when I was twenty-seven (nearly twenty years ago), and for the most part, have not treated it with any type of medication. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I’ve pretty much lived with the general discomfort of it, and am not exactly convinced that I have R.A. Guess I’ll be finding out soon enough, however.

I am hoping I will be finding out sooner rather than later, as I know blood work can take time to get results back. I completely understand that these things take time and can’t be rushed if one wants true and accurate results. I just hope it won’t take too long.

I’ve suffered with this fistula for three months now and I am tired of suffering. I want answers and I want to find a workable solution because the way I’m dealing with it is beginning to get old. I honestly don’t believe surgery is a viable option, but wearing a colostomy is not an option either. So …

Until next time,
Donna
