Hello Dr. Osansky and welcome to DivineCaroline. Would you please introduce yourself to the readers here?
Well, I’m a chiropractic physician, and I was diagnosed with having Graves’ Disease. Even though most endocrinologists label this condition as being incurable, I decided to take a natural approach, and ultimately restored my health back to normal. After 7-1/2 years of seeing traditional chiropractic patients (back pain, neck pain, etc.), I decided to switch gears and so I began helping people with thyroid and autoimmune thyroid disorders restore their health naturally like I did.
You’re currently on online tour with your book Natural Treatment Solutions for Hyperthyroidism and Graves’ Disease. Will you tell us about the book?
The book shows people with hyperthyroidism and Graves’ Disease how a natural treatment protocol can potentially restore their health back to normal. It discusses what type of diet they should have, what other lifestyle factors they need to modify, and certain nutritional supplements and herbs which can be important to the recovery process. I also discuss why radioactive iodine treatment should usually be the last resort, whether or not natural treatment methods are safe during pregnancy and lactation, and how someone with a hyperthyroid condition can find a holistic doctor who focuses on endocrine disorders.
When you were diagnosed with Grave’s disease, was natural treatment your first choice? If not, what led you to natural treatments?
Even though I did see a general medical practitioner, and eventually an endocrinologist, I didn’t take any medication, and so yes, essentially natural treatment methods were my first choice. I did consider taking the antithyroid medication (Methimazole) and the beta blocker that was prescribed to me, but I decided to hold off and follow a natural treatment protocol, figuring I could always choose the conventional medical route later if necessary. As for what led to me choosing natural treatment methods, of course my chiropractic background played a big role, as I always try to choose a natural route first if at all possible, and of course recommend that others do the same.
What benefits have you personally experienced from natural treatments?
In addition to eliminating the symptoms I was experiencing (high pulse rate, palpitations, tremors, increased appetite, etc.), my blood tests normalized a few months after following the natural treatment protocol. It also balanced my adrenal glands, and helped me realize the effects stress has on the body, and therefore allowed me to better manage my stress. Even though I ate well since becoming a chiropractor, there was a lot of room for improvement, and so following a natural treatment protocol forced me to clean up my diet, correct mineral deficiencies, etc. So it not only helped with my thyroid health, but my overall health as well.
Is there anything that you haven’t been asked in interviews thus far that you would like to be asked?
Actually there is one question I think others would find valuable: “Is there anybody with hyperthyroidism and Graves’ Disease who should not consider natural treatment methods?” The truth is, not everyone with these conditions can have their thyroid health completely restored back to normal. However, most people can benefit from natural treatment methods, and what’s important to keep in mind is that hyperthyroidism and Graves’ Disease don’t develop due to a lack of prescription drugs or radioactive iodine. While conventional medicine has its place, it usually doesn’t do anything to address the underlying cause of the condition.
