When I was very young, I remember my mother gave my brothers and me the Goldenseal herb during the winter months. It was like tea and we would complain a lot because of the bitter taste. My mother used herbs for cooking and as a medicine. Later, when I went to college, the thought of herbs made me smile, how people can believe in such things.
Now in my fifties, I believe that herbs and other natural means are the best medicines in the world. When I was young, my body was strong and healthy and I didn’t need any help from herbs; now herbs make me healthy and happy.
Recently, a friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. My mother called me from Spain and said, “Did you tell her to eat the Roman Snail?” I had forgotten all about it, and instead of putting a fight for my best friend, I was already crying with the others.
She ate it. It is called escargots. Anyone can order it in a French restaurant. What is amazing about this is that now she is well, and it only took fifteen minutes for her to feel that the pain in her breasts was gone. She kept on holding her breasts; she couldn’t believe it. Today, ten months later, she still can’t believe this miracle.
My mother, on the other hand, was very upset with me, that I could ignore natural medicine. Many people have been fed up with false information and have the right not to believe. But if you have been around herbs all your life—as I have—you have the responsibility to tell others.
