We all know in life that there is good and then there is bad. We never think the bad is going to happen to us, always someone else but us, and when something really bad happens, you tell yourself that you can’t go on and that this is how life is going to be forever.
Some people may be going through this feeling now, looking at the days, weeks, months, and years that have passed and saying, “I got through it. I don’t know how or when I did, but I made it through.” It is in our human nature to focus on past trauma and bad events. We don’t look at how much time has passed from when a unfortunate situation happened and fail to realize that time passes and you make it through the storm. Mentally we keep ourselves in that bad moment, not realizing all you have to do is get up and see how far you come, how many days, weeks, and months or years have passed and things will get better. They are slowly getting better.
For a period of time, things can change. Life is full of brick walls, crumbled walls, speed bumps … it’s all how you can handle the first ones. That will determine how you handle the rest. Remember, it does get better; not right away, but in time it will. The past is the past. It’s gone, it doesn’t exist anymore, and no matter what your situation was, you are not a bad person. It’s just in a bad situation. Who cares what anyone has to say that’s negative? Get up, dust off, and keep on going.
