Alignment

What if we began to believe that everything in our life was working its way toward alignment for our highest good? What if we viewed the aspects of our life that felt difficult as all part of a greater wisdom that was guiding us to be where we are supposed to be? What if we saw everything as gifts and teachers manifested perfectly to support our ultimate growth and expression? What if we stopped striving for what we perceived as good and started to embrace that which would support our wholeness?

Ineffability is part of the journey of our lives. There are some aspects of the mystery that we just don’t understand and maybe that we will never understand. Those of us who have our pictures of how things should be and who struggle with perfectionism may have a challenging time accepting the things that don’t seem to change. For those of us who tend toward perfection, it might be worth a try to align with the fluidity of non-attachment.

Yesterday, I was doing some research for an upcoming radio show I will be doing with Don Mario Ramos on the subject of prayer. The most common kind of prayer is supplication (also known as petitioning prayer). Supplicant prayer is about asking for something that we perceive is missing from our life.

In an extension booklet for A Course in Miracles, The Song of Prayer: Prayer, Forgiveness, and Healing, the highest form of prayer, referred to as “true prayer,” is coming into alignment with God. It states, “Prayer now must be the means by which God’s son [us] leaves separate interests by, and turns in holy gladness to the truth of union in his Father and himself.” In other words, rather than focusing on what we desire, it may be more powerfully aligned with Source to acknowledge our divinity.

Because we are often focused on what we don’t have we often miss seeing the beauty of what is. During times when we are feeling that what we want is eluding us, we may choose to look carefully at our life and appreciate what is right in front of us. The Song of Prayer states, “Ask, rather, to receive what is already given; to accept what is already there.” It is also very interesting to note that gratitude is a very attractive energy!

If we live our life dedicated to flow, peace, and harmony rather than resistance, angst, and unrest, we begin to live our life as a prayer of alignment. We cultivate ease and true happiness. We get off the roller coaster of “Today things are going well for me so I am happy” and “Today things are challenging so therefore I am miserable.” When we choose alignment we begin to live our life as a prayer of gratitude and joy. The Song of Prayer offers, “(Prayer) does change in form and grow with learning until it reaches its formless state, and fuses into total communication with God.” Of course, if we are in total alignment with God we needn’t want for anything!

Don Mario Ramos said to me recently, “When you are fearful, remember that you are holy.” To remember our holiness is to walk in acknowledgement and alignment with the glorious truth and liberation of who we really are.
