My friend Kathy has inspired me to reach for the sky in anything I do. Nothing is impossible if you have the courage to move forward never looking back. Through the darkest moments of a single human being lost and scared comes that magical break through.

She has mentored me in every way. From schooling , through divorce, etc.Kathy never falters in any way. true, honest and steady, She is like a White beckoning light that never dims.

I have known her for more than 40 plus years and her steadfastness is my harbor beacon. An Angel on Earth who will never fail.

I may not like or agree with some of her advice but that's the essence of true friendship. It gives one pause for thought and a different perspective on what's ahead on the Horizon.

Kathy your the anchor in my life. True friendship is a megawatt bulb that will never dim.

My grandmother (well, nanou). My parents were totally dysfunctional and my nanou was my port in a storm - smart, honest and warm. She and I were insererable - she taught me a love of reading, games and fun. She always told me the truth - even if the truth hurt - no "stories" for me - she always said she had too much respect for me to tell me crazy stork and easter bunny stories. And her relationship with my grandfather taught me that men should treat their women with love and respect and friendship at all times.

My dear angel mother---Elsie Drusilla---she becomes more precious with age.....she is 86 years young....She taught me to smile always, look to Heavenly Father & Jesus for my strength & help in all things, and to never complain. She taught me songs, music, patience, long suffering and sacrifice. I now realize that she sacrificed many things when I was a child so that my brother (Buddy) & I could have what we needed - even food.....she loved us more that she loved herself.....My home was destroyed by fire along w/ my piano, 2 antique organs-all that I had worked for in the last 40 years. When I told my mom she said to me,"God is still a God of Miracles & He will replace everything & more that you lost!!! Such a touching statement to me......

I was inspired by Mrs Geneva Sims, I only met her a few years ago and she was in her eighties at the time and well dressed and well spoken and I just took to her and was inspired by her spirit and the flair that she had. I was also inspired by a middle aged woman that I saw on a bus years ago. She was older but neat and well groomed and had a very good body and I felt that I would really like to look like her even at the my age then was around twenty one. My math teacher also inspired me to do my best in life.
My paternal grandfather. He lived five years after diagnosis with a rare form of brain cancer. My grandfather lived through three highly invasive surgeries and frequent cobalt radiation treatments during the 1980's. After each surgery, he lost physical abilities. Ultimately, he was confined to a hospital bed at home with only the ability to move his arms, hands and fingers. After he lost his ability to speak, he helped me learn to read on an advanced level via written messages on a hand-held blackboard. He is the first inspiration in my life for pursuing a career in medicine and research.

I am inspired by my grandmother, who was humble and hardworking, optimistic and appreciative of life's quirks. She would dismiss the idea of being a role model or a hero, but every day I work to be more like her.

My 91 year old father. When he sees someone laughing, he breaks into a boisterous laugh. he then comments that he may not be able to hear anymore, but can still enjoy a good laugh.
