The quality of your life is directly related to what you focus on in any given moment. Focus directs your attention and clarifies your actions.
The two most common obstacles that people generally experience are having trouble establishing focus, or being unable to successfully maintain it once they hit a bump in the road.
Effective people are masters at establishing and maintaining focus. They focus on their dreams and the results they want to create. When they encounter a problem, they focus on solving that problem so that they can get back to moving toward their goals. They know how to say “no” and how to follow through on commitments they make to others. The key is to get clear on what you want (or want to achieve) and let nothing distract you from that goal.
One Thing to Think About
You will have problems. You will meet obstacles. Few of your projects will go according to plan. No matter what circumstances you encounter, maintain a laser-like focus on your original goal and invest all of your energy in getting over, around, under, or through the problem you’re facing.

Answer the following questions:
1. How do you normally respond to problems?
2. Think about the results you’re committed to right now, and identify any obstacles currently in your path.
3. Are you investing your energy in solving the problem, maintaining focus on the results you’re looking to create, or are you focused on the problem in an unproductive way?
4. Based on what you’ve discovered, do you need to adjust your approach to the current obstacles in your path?
