Personal Effectiveness: Make Your Habits Work for You

Your habits are patterns of behavior. They’ve been conditioned through sheer repetition, and I’m willing to bet that most of them were conditioned without a great deal of thought or planning.

Ultimately, your habits either serve you or they don’t. When a habit serves you, it moves you closer to your vision. When it doesn’t, it moves you farther away from what you want. Effective people consciously design and condition habits that bring them closer to the life they want to live. They also identify habits that could derail their progress and thoughtfully replace those patterns with more empowering alternatives.

One Thing to Think About
Effective people make their habits work for them. They are willing to identify patterns of behavior that could stop them from reaching their goals. Your willingness to examine and upgrade your habits will move you closer to living your dream.

One Question to Answer
Are your habits the result of attention, intention and discipline, or do you create them haphazardly and without thought?

One Challenge to Take
Answer the following questions:

1. Revisit the vision, results, and actions you established in the blog post Stake Your Claim: Make It Happen.

2. Are your current habits moving you closer to the life you want to live? If so, which of your habits are really serving you? If not, which could change?

3. Design more empowering habits to take the place of those that aren’t serving you.

Commit to conditioning your new habits! A short period of consistency will go a long way toward establishing the automated patterns that support your dreams!
