I am Becoming a Warrior in Pink in More Than One Way!

I just got out of the hospital. it was needed surgery caused from an accident created by my husband and dangerously fueled by a boy named Eric “C,” who was a friend of my son, temporarily staying with us.

This accident happened April 15, 2004— the statute of limitations to sue has passed.

David, my husband, was cutting limbs. Eric was catching them and swinging them out into the yard to be cut for firewood. I was moving smaller pieces aside to prevent accidents. David cut a larger limb and I asked him to let me get out of the way. He did not. Eric didn’t want a scratch in the face so he swung it into me, without warning. I was leaning over and did not see it coming. It hit me squarely on the head as I was leaning down, jamming my head and neck into my shoulders really hard. I heard all kinds of bad sounds coming from my body. I told my husband I was hurt as I fell to the ground. Eric ran into the house and hid there drinking a beer.

David finished cutting and Eric came back out, not saying a word to me. Only spoke to David as I stumbled into the house to sit down. Both men went into the backyard to drink more beer. Neither one of them asked if I was ok. David just said he was sorry I got hit. I called our insurance company nurse hotline since I had had a very serious car wreck in 2000 and had begun getting sick all over again. She told me to go to the nearest Emergency Room immediately. I asked David to take me. He started using profanity and saying I was going to make a big f-----g deal out of the whole thing! When the Nurse on the phone heard this, she told me to get a cab. I said nothing to him and started back into the house to call a cab. David noticed the phone in my hand. He said to wait and let him finish his beer and he’d take me, as he cussed low this time.

At the ER, he told the doctor, after I was diagnosed with a concussion, to stop all further diagnostic tests and send me on home to recover since the limb wasn’t very big. He had talked to Eric about it and never asked me. The ER doctor gave me AMBIEN, a sleeping pill... I fussed and wanted my stomach pumped since I knew this was wrong, but he discharged me home with my husband. I awoke the next morning with diarrhea, which continued for four and a half months. Several doctors later, all I ever was told was that it was a bacterial infection... it stopped on it’s on, somehow, but I nearly died. The hospital didn’t want to admit me again, because I had been a “difficult” patient. I called administration and told them about what happened and the ER doctor, named “Sha”, no longer can work in the Presbyterian Complexes ANYWHERE in the USA. Nor is he in our insurance network. Finally my husband told me about his conversation with Eric who said it was a really small limb that hit me—reality check here—eight inches in diameter is not small, and I have no idea how fast it traveled.

My neurologist sent adult protective services out to talk to my husband and HE really got mad at me and the screaming at me started again... the surgery last Monday  was to fix a broken disc in my neck by adding an artificial one, chip away the arthritis from the fractured collar bone and correct some minor leakage still being found in my neck area that three other doctors have missed. I stopped all communications available to my husband for the hospital/doctors so I will get good treatment. He got really mad about this and refused to pay the forty dollar co-pay for my hospital bill. I am begging Legal Aid to take my case and get this man out of my home before he finds a way to kill me. This is my house, given me by my family. I lived here long before I married him. He has been verbally abusive to me far too long and it is escalating to violence that terrifies me. My home has battle scars that show horrible treatment by him and he tells me “you own it, you fix it…”
