When Enough Is Enough

I have been in this relationship for almost a year now. We get along pretty good. We have our days.

There are many things that I deal with on a daily basis. I am a single mother. I am a part-time student and currently unemployed. So I am doing a lot of things. I wash clothes on the weekend. Monday through Friday is very busy for me and my kids. I have to take them to school in the morning and then head off to my classes. When I am done, I go out, sometimes to fill out applications. My boyfriend works seven days a week by his own choice.

Okay, my point is people who are unemployed by this recession are not unemployed by choice. On one side, it did suck because I have a house and bills and I had to downsize; I am the provider. I live in a three-bedroom house with a mortgage and insurance. I had to sell my car to get money to hold me over until my unemployment finally came through. I work hard.

My relationships have been the pits since I left my kids’ father. It was to the point where I really thought that I would really die a spinster. Then, in like April, he came in. He is not my type at all. My type has been my issue all along. He is twelve years older than me. Now I decide to open myself up. Only thing is he is a momma’s boy. He says we should “practice for when we do move in together.” No! It is more like seeing if I will wash his clothes, clean his house, and wipe his ass like his momma did!

I have two kids. I don’t want a third!

So last night was really awkward because he works early hours and he gets home and goes to sleep most of the time. I asked him if loves me and he in turn said, “Do you love yourself?” I mean, what the heck was that? Was he mad because I was out without him? Was he mad because I got in the bed with pajamas? Yes. But you know, it all comes down to whether I really need him or if I’d be better off without it.
