Dying to What Bounds Me

Since Christ paved the way, dying to the things that bound me, occurs every day

Being weaned and released of what holds me at bay

A lesson comes to show me the way—it starts the process for what bounds me—to decay

Its’ no easy task to flee from captivity—but being free of what bounds me is my reprieve so that my soul can be relieved

I need to look deep inside where the battle of captivity resides and decide that “I” want to be free from the chains of this prison that bounds me

I cry out to the Lord, Lord set me free, from this prison of captivity; break the chains that keep me lame, set my soul free

Lord, unshackle me

Let this battle reign within me no more

Show me what life’s like behind this dungeon door

Let the darkness of the foe no longer censor my soul

Let the beauty of Thy spirit within me unfold

Lord, call me out of captivity

Lift this darkness of despair

I lay before Thee, Lord my countenance bare
