Twinflames: The Elusive Half-Soul (Part I)

“I’ve been searching for a long time,
Someone exactly like you…”
-Lyrics from the theme song of the movie, One Fine Day

The seemingly endless chatter among the hopeless romantics about serendipity and soul mates make me swing my head from side to side because this term ‘Soul mate’ is misconstrued as the ‘other half’ of one’s soul that had been severed sometime in the past and this is the same ‘one half’ that your soul had been yearning for since time immemorial …

Well … true, but not exactly true.

Are you confused?

You see, the soul is a very, very complex entity. From the time of its creation, it has so journeyed, reborn, cleansed and journeyed again. The feeling of yearning among people and the lingering feeling of emptiness inside each and everyone is actually dictated by two losses; one, the missing part of your own soul and two, the yearning of being reunited with the Creator, which, in reality, is the greatest feeling of yearning man must endure as the journeys through his life (or lives).

Before we start discussing about Twinflames, let us talk of the Soul first.

Imagine God as one big bonfire, one big flame. There are little flames that come from the big flame. Those are our souls. But one flame is not an entire soul. It is actually a complex aggregation of souls; so one small flame is in actuality also a multitude of souls.

For another analogy, we can liken God to a big tree with many branches. A Tree Branch with its twigs are called soul groups. The leaves on the twigs are bunches of smaller soul groups. These smaller soul groups could already be called your own circle of ‘soul mates’. The closer the leaves are to you in proximity are your closest soul mates simply because your origins have rooted from the same spiritual energy. But they and you are not the same soul. Some of these souls could be immediate family, relatives, friends, neighbors or even your mortal enemies.

There are also the Karmic Souls. These souls are also from within your soul groups (or a part of your very own soul) that have karmic influences on your very own soul. These are normally your husband, wife or partner that you have crossed paths with in your reincarnated lives. The very detail about this special soul group shall be discussed later on in this article.

One leaf is one soul. But it doesn’t stop there.

Remember Lord Voldemort in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter Series? (I’m sure the Potter fans would understand whom I am referring to). Lord Voldemort have mastered the act of splitting his soul seven times and kept each one of them in a thing or even a living being (an animal or a human) and these ‘soul containers’ are called a Horcruxes (like Nagini, the snake and Harry himself where the Dark Lord had kept part of his soul) so that he regain utmost power and for him to gain immortality because of his seeming indestructibility.

In that light, that singular leaf or a singular soul could be split into fragments. So, simply put, you and I could actually have the same soul; or rather, both of us may have a part of the same soul. So we are not simply soul mates; we are the same soul.

One soul fragment has its own yin and yang, like God, the big tree and the big flame that we came from, each one of us (or each soul or soul fragment in us), carries God’s duality.

Each soul or soul fragment has the balance of God’s duality; the male and the female essences. Half of this soul or soul fragment carries the male essence and the other half carries the female essence. But inside this male essence also lies a dormant female essence to balance this sacred duality. Inside the female essence lies also a dormant male essence in order to again balance this duality. The half male essence with the dormant female may be born in the physical world as a male and exude his masculinity or it may be born as a female with physical manifestations and traits that are more masculine as in the case of female athletes or lesbians even. Likewise, the half female essence with the dormant male may be born in the physical world as a female and exude her femininity or it may be born as a male with physical manifestations and traits that are more feminine as in the case of effeminate men or gays even. Yet both retain the strength of the duality in spite of the seemingly physical reversals. All of these are dictated by the dual essences of God.
