Finding a sense of peace for everybody is a little different. Whether it be a quiet room, a long drive, reading a book. Yes, I do all of that but I found I get the greatest sense of peace and understanding about life every time I walk into church or pick up my Bible. As I was growing up I was never made to go to church, therefore I did not have an understanding about God, much less with God. I have been through some rough and tough times in my life since I was eighteen but never have I done drugs and alcohol. I met a wonderful man a year and a half ago through some awesome friends of mine and my daughter. It happened to be a Sunday. While we were talking that afternoon he asked me out for that Thursday. He started talking about verses in the Bible, and of course I started getting intrigued. And asking questions. He opened my eyes to quite a bit. I find I have the strength now to look at the distant future and what I want to accomplish in life. Well I by no means am a fanatic but I do pray and started going to church two or three times a month. I do feel an overwhelming sense of peace like a one-on-one time with God. He has brought me through so much and taught me even more.
Everyone that comes into your life comes in for a reason. They may leave after a time some will stay and some may become your bestest friend. But God sends them for a reason. Open your eyes and pay attention to what people tell you. Everything is a sign. Whether it be a smile or just having a bad day and you are ready to just throw your hands up and give up, you may get a call from someone you haven’t spoken to in months or maybe someone you spoke to just that day. They may put a smile on your face. I truly believe God was listening to me that day in August of last year when I met my Mr. Right. He showed me and taught me that with a little faith and encouragement and support I am overcoming my fears. I am a much stronger and happier person today than I was a year ago. Things happen at specific times for a reason. He puts things on your plate to make you stronger and usually there is a reason behind it. He did for me and I have learned from all of it. I have overcome many obstacles including types of abuse, a health condition, a rape. But I learned from it. I want to teach about it now. And I believe that one day I will be able to open a shelter or be there for some woman or child and open their eyes to the greater being and become free to express themselves in a way that will help them flourish.
